Sarah Marder
Based in Milan, Italy since 1988, Sarah Marder spent 22 years with Citigroup, working in various roles, including Relationship Management, Bond Sales to International Investors, Chief of Staff to the General Manager in Italy and the Head of Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility in Italy. The last two years with Citi were spent as the Head of HR and Diversity Communications for the 55 countries composing the EMEA Region, a role in which she supported the company’s award-winning diversity platform.
She believes that society on the whole has not yet adjusted to having such a large proportion of mothers in the workforce and she sees a huge opportunity for progressive organisations to help parents juggle multiple-responsibilities in a considered and sustainable way. As a mother of four, Sarah has had ample experience with maternity transitions and also with the complexities of balancing home and work responsibilities. For her, there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution and she loves helping women find their own distinctive and dynamic approach.
For the last four years, Sarah has used her experience to help individuals and groups grapple with personal development topics such as Dealing with Stress, Developing an Assertive Style of Communication, Improving Relations in the Workplace, Getting Our Emotional Bearings, and Presenting Ideas Persuasively. Her coaching work builds on the theme of relationships, with ourselves and those around us.
Sarah received a BA in International Relations from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Washington, D.C. Besides coaching, she also manages a portfolio of socially-oriented projects in Italy and abroad, including the production of a documentary film, The Genius of a Place, that shows how tourism affects a small community and encourages people to take care of places they love. She practices yoga and completed in 2008 a two-year course in Ayurvedic philosophy, lifestyle and treatments, providing her with a holistic view of how to achieve a physical and emotional sense of wellbeing.
