Women will suffer most from the next round of job cuts
Yvette Cooper, shadow welfare secretary has explained the reason why she will not stand for the position. She has small children, and it is a big job. This article in the Guardian talks about working mothers and the two demanding roles they have to perform. Only 18% of women with children under 3 work full time.
Cooper has shown that women have not seen a huge increase in financial independence and that three-quarters of the pending budget cuts will be shouldered by women. Men lost jobs in the recent recession because of the decline of the private sector. However, it will be women taking the next hit as the public sector suffers from big cuts. Click here to read more.
