India's ruling party loses support over women's bill

Two political parties in India have withdrawn support over a controversial bill to reserve one third of government seats to women. The bill is a test for congress to use as a basis for their election winning platform of enclusive growth. The congress led coalition still has a majority of 272 seats but the withdrawal of the extra support means that the government will have less breathing space and will need to strive for every vote it can.
